How we score
AI-Powered Trust Assessment
Rather than wait years for user reviews to accumulate, we built an AI system that scores tradespeople from public data — Google reviews, Companies House and the TrustMark register. It's automated, so it covers every listing without paid membership fees or application backlogs. It's a guide, not a vetting process: we don't inspect work, check insurance or interview anyone, and Gas Safe and NICEIC registrations are for you to check on their registers (each profile links to them).

Google rating, number of reviews and how recent they are — with AI sentiment analysis.
Qualifications
Membership of TrustMark, the government-endorsed quality scheme, checked against its register. Gas Safe and NICEIC can’t be checked automatically, so each profile links to their registers for you to check.
Business Legitimacy
Companies House status, company age and filing record — or, for a sole trader, how long the business has been on Google.
Digital Presence
Website and its quality, Google Business Profile completeness, social links and ways to get in touch.
Responsiveness
How often the business replies to negative Google reviews, and whether it lists opening hours.
Coverage
Whether the business is based in South East England.
Public data, human oversight. Every score is built from public data, and our editorial team can correct any score at any time. The AI proposes, people have the final say.
How the Trust Score works
Each assessed listing has a Trust Score from 0 to 999. It combines six dimensions, each scored from public data:
- Online Reputation — Google rating, number of reviews and how recent they are.
- Qualifications — the TrustMark register, and any Gas Safe registration recorded by our team.
- Business Legitimacy — Companies House status, age and filing record, or how long a sole trader has been on Google.
- Digital Presence — website, Google Business Profile, social links and ways to get in touch.
- Responsiveness — replies to negative Google reviews, and listed opening hours.
- Coverage — whether the business is based in South East England.
A listing we have not assessed shows no score at all, rather than a low one. A score reflects the public data at the time the business was assessed.Gas Safe and NICEIC can't be checked automatically, so each profile links to those registers for you to check.
Born from frustration
TradesAround started when our founder spent weeks trying to find a reliable plumber in Oxford. After being let down twice, he realised there had to be a better way. A platform built on trust, transparency and verifiable credentials — not paid advertising.
