Reality check

Where it tends to slip

If your project goes long, it’ll usually be one of these. Worth knowing before you sign anything.

01Worktop template can only happen once base units are fixed and level — granite/quartz then needs 5–10 working days off-site, which is the single biggest schedule risk in a kitchen.
02Kitchen unit delivery slips — Wren/Magnet have reported 5–7 week stretches; bespoke ranges back-up around Christmas, Easter and the August school break.
03Discovering uneven floors, undeclared structural walls or old tiled adhesive on lift — adds 1–3 days latex/levelling.
04Appliance back-orders, especially boiling-water taps, integrated wine fridges and US/EU branded ovens.
05Tradesman gap — tiler waiting for the plumber, electrician booked elsewhere; clusters of small days lost between phases.
